Documentary, Women directing
A cinematic journey through humanity’s massive impact on the planet, Anthropocene: The Human Epoch is a four year in the making documentary that follows the research of an international body of scientists around the world. Arguing that the Holocene Epoch has given way to the Anthropocene Epoch, the documentary portrays the ways in which humans have made profound and lasting changes to the Earth.
Behind the team of multiple-award winning directors, Anthropocene: The Human Epoch is the third feature in a trilogy following Manufactured Landscapes (2006) and Watermark (2013). With its world premiere at the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival, the documentary has been critically acclaimed for its stunning portrayal of humans’ impact on Earth. Narrated by Academy Award winning actress Alicia Vikander, it was named the Best Canadian Film and Documentary in 2018 by Toronto Film Critics Association and Vancouver Film Critics Circle.
