Documentary
In North Dakota, the city of Leith consists of no more than 24 inhabitants. Most of them are farmers or ranchers with land passed down from previous generations, an idyllic existence in a landscape reminiscing of tales from a romanticised post-apocalyptic world, due to the decreasing population over a century. All is fine, until their new neighbor moves in, white supremacist and self-proclaimed number one racist of the world: Craig Cobb. Cobb intends to take over control of the city by buying land and turn it into a neo-nazi settlement, replacing the oasis that was Leith.
Welcome to Leith premiered at Sundance, where it was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize. Documentarians Michael Beach Nichols and Christopher K. Walker here capture the reality turned upside-down by intolerant racists, and the Leith inhabitants’ struggle with their evil agenda.
