Comedy, Drama
In the sequel of successful The Trip, Brydon and Coogan play again versions of themselves, on assignment to write about food for The Observer. The odd couple tour Italy, through Piedmont, Liguria, Tuscany, Rome, the Amalfi Coast and Capri, finding themselves debating the big questions of life over a series of culinary delights. Whereas the first series referenced Wordsworth and Coleridge.
The Trip to Italy will follow in the footsteps of Byron and Shelley.
The director Michael Winterbottom (24 Hour Party People, A Mighty Heart, Tristram Shandy) has won both the Golden and the Silver Bear and in addition five Golden Bear nominations, three Palme d’Or nominations and one Golden Lion nomination. The star-strewn-two-person-ensemble consists of the acclaimed Steve Coogan (In the Loop, 24 Hour Party People) and the hilarious Rob Brydon (Tristram Shandy, 24 Hour Party People).
