About the movie

During World War 1 in July 1916 the battle of the Somme began, and only within hours 20,000 British soldiers had lost their lives. After months of dead ends and setbacks for the soldiers, a bold and daring plan was formed and set in motion. The plan was for a group of British civilian tunnellers to dig a tunnel under no man’s land and plant a bomb under the German Front in hopes of breaking the deadly stalemate of the Battle of Messines. The fate of millions lay in the hands of these British tunnellers, for only they have the skills to complete this daring mission below land. Under the disapproving eye of General Haigh, the tunnellers only have one chance to complete this mission against time.
The War Below is based on true WWI events when the fate of millions lay in the hands of a few civilian tunnellers. Directed by J.P. Watts.
