Mysterious deaths have the small mountain village shocked and on edge as more and more bodies of strong men and hunters within their community turn up dead in the woods. Retired civil engineer Duszejko, a charismatic and eccentric woman who is a strict vegetarian and known around town for her arguments with the hunters, quickly comes under suspicion. But she in turn is certain that that the wildlife itself is extracting vengeance on their persecutors, a theory further strengthen by the hoof prints all around the dead hunters.
‘Spoor’ is a one of a kind revenge thriller by Academy Award nominated director Agnieszka Holland who has returned to feature filmmaking after several successes with directing American tv-series. Based on the commercially successful novel by Olga Tokarczuk, Holland combines genres and the result is part mystery, part exploration of societal oppression and part eco-reverie. Official selection at the Berlinale 2017.
