At the end of the 1800’s, three small-time crooks impersonate roman priests to con poor people out of their money. Too late, the group’s leader suffers a crisis of conscience when the chance of meeting with his daughter opens his eyes to his wrongdoing, in The Swindle’s absorbing tale of hope, desperation and redemption.
Being one of Fellini’s most overlooked films, The Swindle still has an extraordinary cast of Academy Award winner Broderick Crawford and Walk of Fame-star Richard Basehart, and a score by Nino Rota who would later be awarded with both Oscars, Golden Globes and Grammys for his work on The Godfather-trilogy. Following the international success of La strada, The Swindle remains one of Fellini’s most loved titles.
