Castro was once a very famous TV host, but as he grows old, his popularity is declining. Today his driver Manu takes him to the house warming party of his longtime friend and producer Nathalie, who has just moved into a beautiful home in the outskirts of Paris. Hélène, Nathalie’s sister and Castro’s ex-wife, is also among the guests. Their daughter Nina, who has written a book based on her parents, joins the party as well. It’s a lovely afternoon – at least on the surface. The party is in full swing, but everyone is dancing on a volcano.
Critics’ and Festival’s favorite French, Agnès Jaoui, has struck again. New people, a different setting and story, but the quality of the comedy remains as high as ever. Once again, she has teamed up with Jean-Pierre Bacri both in front of the camera, and behind the screenplay writing. The two of them shared the Cannes Best Screenplay Award for Comme une image, and have since then claimed the hearts and laughs of their audience.
