Drama, Music, Romance
On Chesil Beach tells the story of Florence (Saoirse Ronan) and Edward (Billy Howle), very much in love despite their different backgrounds. An intimate portrait of their honeymoon in 1962, with hopes and dreams for a future together. The story unfolds with great tenderness to show how, unbeknownst to them both, the decisions they make that summer will resonate throughout their lives.
Based on the widely praised novel of the same name. Directed by theater veteran Dominic Cooke from a screenplay by the novel’s author himself, Ian McEwan. In the leading roles stars two-time Academy Award Nominee Saoirse Ronan (Lady Bird, Brooklyn, Atonement) and rising star Billy Howle, last seen in Christopher Nolan’s ‘Dunkirk’.
“It’s a lyrical and rapturous film — a repressed passion play, funny, delicate and heartbreaking." – Variety
“One of the most impressive debuts of a director since Tom Ford made ‘A Single Man.’” – The Film Stage
“An exquisitely delicate piece” – The Hollywood Reporter
