Gilda Radner’s success story started in 1975 as a cast member in the immensely popular comedy sketch show Saturday Night Live, and later progressed to the film and theatre scene as well. Paving the way for many of today’s comedians, Love, Gilda depicts the late comedic legend in her own words. Before she tragically passed away from cancer in 1989, she made several home videos, audio recordings and kept diaries, now beautifully made into a portrait of the beloved comedienne’s life story.
After the documentary’s premiere at the 2018 Tribeca Film Festival, it garnered appraisal from critics as well as audiences who decades after her passing, are still inspired by the life and work of the trailblazing comedienne. The documentary features some of today’s biggest names in comedy, such as Amy Poehler, Bill Hader, Melissa McCarthy, Maya Rudolph, Chevy Chase and many, many more who Radner made a huge impact on.
