Drama
Etienne is an endearing actor out of work who no longer is dreaming of big things in his life, until he meets three prisoners who are his match. Etienne runs a theater workshop in prison, where he brings together the unlikely troupe of talented prisoners he met to stage Samuel Beckett’s famous play ‘Waiting for Godot’. The play turns out to be a success and he is allowed to take the convicts on a tour outside of prison. Etienne sees this opportunity to finally thrive in life and each tour date is a new type of huge success. Each performance is leading up to their final and immense performance in Paris that might turn out be their biggest hit.
Inspired by true events, The Big Hit is directed by the award-winning French filmmaker Emmanuel Courcol. The film premiered at the three-day Special Cannes 2020 Fest and became the winner for Best Comedy at the 2020 European Film Awards.
