Timeless
A French actress is in Japan, to work on a film about peace and the impact of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima. A Japanese man, an architect, lost his family in the bombing. The two meet for a one-night-stand, upon which she recalls her lover during the war, a young German soldier. Hiroshima mon amour is the poetic remembrance of a terrifying historical event, the bombing of Hiroshima.
It is Resnais’ first full-length feature and has been dubbed proto-new wave for its role in the origin of the French New Wave Cinema. BAFTA-awarded and Academy Award nominee.
