American art critic James Lord gets the opportunity to have his portrait painted in Paris by the painter of his highest admiration; Alberto Giacometti. What is supposed to be a few hours of his time quickly escalates into days after days of delay. The famous artist is tormented with contempt with everything in his life, but for some reason he finds comfort in having Lord around. A strange bond connects the two men as they are stuck together until the painting is finished, if it ever will be.
Academy Award nominated actor and director Stanley Tucci present a captivating biography set in 1964 in the beautiful and artistic city of Paris. He is joined by Academy Award winner Geoffrey Rush and Screen Actors Guild Awards nominee Armie Hammer to portrait the two leading men; a chain-smoking volatile painter and a handsome and well-mannered gentleman.
