About the movie

City of Ghost is the remarkable story of a group of journalists who daily risk their lives in order to document and release footage of the terror created by ISIS. Their organization, ‘Raqqa Is Being Slaughtered Silently’, is praised around the world for their work; they continue their journalistic mission on the run and with constant death threats. Touching moments of brotherhood combined with footage and ISIS propaganda directly from terrorized Syria can be seen as we follow these freedom fighters.
Academy Award nominated director Matthew Heineman delivers another triumphant political portrait after his success with documentary ‘Cartel Land’. He gives the heroic journalist in Syria a voice in this documentary. ‘City of Ghost’ were nominated for the Grand Jury Price at Sundance Film Festival 2017.
