Set in England at the turn of the last century, Angel recounts the glorious rise of Angel Deverell, a poor but passionately determined young woman, who climbs the social ladder by becoming a celebrated romantic novelist.
Angel is a gripping drama based on the popular novel with the same name by Elizabeth Taylor. The film is the first English-language feature of critically acclaimed director/writer François Ozon (Swimming Pool, 8 Women, Time to Leave). The film stars a brilliant cast with Romola Garai (Scoop, Atonement, Amazing Grace) in the title role, co-starring Sam Neill, Charlotte Rampling (Swimming Pool, Heading South) and Michael Fassbender. Nominated for the Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival 2007.
