Frances is a young aspiring painter from New York City who escapes her disappointing life by running away to the farthest reaches of Arctic Norway for an assignment she hopes will invigorate her work and expand her horizons. Frances original plan was to work on the assigned assignment where she would assist painting an old barn as an art installment only, but she soon discovers she has a lot to learn and the trip to Norway becomes an escape and the path she all along needed.
Based on the successful the novel the same name, The Sunlit Night is charming rom-com set in Norway directed by German filmmaker David Wnendt previously known from his films Wetlands and Look Who’s Back. The Sunlit Night premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2019.
