Animation, Drama, Women directing
Loving Vincent is a ground-breaking feature animation, which tells the story of one of the world's best loved painters: Vincent Van Gogh. The story of Loving Vincent takes place within one hundred and twenty of Van Gogh's greatest masterpieces. It unfolds through interviews with the characters closest to the artist and through dramatic reconstructions of the events leading up to his controversial death.
Loving Vincent will be the world's first feature length painted animation, with every shot painted with oil paints on canvas. A new method, Painting Animation Work Stations, has been specially created to allow thirty painters to complete the film in two years.
