In a southern mining town in Kentucky 1989, Susan Smith is desperate to escape her unpleasant life. When FBI-agent Mark Putnam approaches Susan about becoming an informant for a high-profile case, she sees this as her way out and believes her bad luck might finally be changing. Susan is recruited and as times goes by, an intimate relationship unfolds between them. But as their relationship deepens, so does the dangers and they set on a deadly collision course. What Susan saw as an opportunity to become Mark’s star informer and as an escape from her mundane life, instead it becomes a ticket to disaster. Their relationship soon turns into an exploitative use of drugs, deception and murder.
Directed by the acclaimed and award-winning director Phillip Noyce, previously known for the films Clear and Present Danger, Patriot Games and Salt featuring film icons such as Harrison Ford, Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp, Above Suspicion is his latest thriller based on one of the most notorious real-life crime events in FBI history featuring the Game of Thrones actress Emilia Clarke and American Hustle actor Jack Huston.
