About the movie

A mother and her daughter-in-law are two lucky survivors during a Japanese civil war in the 1300s. To make ends meet, they lure samurai warriors into a pit, and rob them on their belongings. When their neighbor, Hachi, comes back from the war, he enters a relationship with the younger woman. The mother on the other hand, has a unique and quite terrifying way of getting her daughter-in-law to leave her new love. This chilling, waking nightmare of a movie is a Japanese classic favorite amongst critics worldwide.
