Timeless
The opening where Klaus Kinski performs the role of Jesus after his own interpretation sets the tone for this Herzog documentary. Kinski curses at the audience for not paying attention to his act, has the microphone taken away from him, and of course steals it back. Kinski actually left one of his Jesus tours to star in Herzog’s Aguirre, the Wrath of God, which later would turn him into a cinema icon forever to be connected with the five films he made with Herzog.
In My Best Fiend, the highly intriguing and unique relationship between the two artists is told in a just as highly intriguing and unique way by master of documentaries himself – Werner Herzog.
