Production of THE GREENEST GRASS by Kim Sundbeck begins this week in Malmö. Vilhelm Blomgren stars as a Möllan guy whose tired relationship gets an unexpected spark in this romantic comedy, produced by Anagram and distributed in the Nordic region by NonStop Entertainment.
Sasja and Olivia have stagnated—both as individuals and as a couple. Sasja is bored at his job as a health inspector. Olivia’s dreams of becoming an artist are going nowhere. But when Sasja starts an affair, something unexpected happens. The Greenest Grass is a romantic comedy about painting yourself into a corner.
Filming kicked off this week in the Möllan neighborhood of Malmö for Kim Sundbeck’s rom-com debut The Greenest Grass. The cast includes Vilhelm Blomgren (Gösta, Midsommar, Clark), Anna Asp (Beck films), Maria Nohra (Ronja, LasseMaja’s Detective Agency, Tack och förlåt), Ia Langhammer (Hela härligheten, Tack och förlåt), and Cedomir Glisovic (I Am Zlatan).
“The Greenest Grass features messy characters in messy settings trying to act logically, but ending up in messy situations. It’s going to be both funny and relatable for all of us who fail, despite good intentions,” says director Kim Sundbeck.
“We want to capture both the chaos and the warmth of Malmö during a time when the city shows itself at its best. Kim has written a film that’s both intelligent and very funny, and we look forward to giving audiences a movie that stands out within its genre,” says producer Ann Lundberg at Anagram.
“The Greenest Grass is the kind of smart, urban romantic comedy that’s been sorely lacking in Sweden. In Kim Sundbeck’s hands, and with the proven comedic timing of Vilhelm Blomgren and Anna Asp, it was love at first sight for us as a distributor,” says Jakob Abrahamsson, CEO of NonStop Entertainment.
The Greenest Grass is written and directed by Kim Sundbeck and produced by Ann Lundberg at Anagram—the production company founded by Hipp Hipp! duo Anders Jansson and Johan Wester, known for titles like Starke Man, Eat Sleep Die, Tuesday Club, and Thin Blue Line. The film is co-produced by Film i Skåne, SVT, and NonStop Winning Formula, with support from the Swedish Film Institute/Moving Sweden. NonStop Entertainment is the Nordic distributor, and The Yellow Affair is handling international sales.
